Freshening Up Our Home for Spring

As some of you may know – I looooove decorating. Although I'm no pro and really base my knowledge off of extensive Pinterest research, work with a great interior designer and my addiction to HGTV, I kind of understand the whole ~vibe~ I'm going for – I think. All that to say, I'm still perfecting my home style and with our wedding coming up this year, this space will probably completely change! (Sorry, Stephen.)

Now that a new season is here, I'm sharing 5 simple ways we freshen up your home to create an inviting space for gatherings, and a place to relax when we come home from adventures outdoors or at the beach! ;)

1. Bring on the Greens

Obviously, fresh greenery and flowers is my first step. Every room, every shelf, you best believe there are cactuses, eucalyptus or house plants.

2. Switch up the Rugs

Nothing can change the feel of a room more than a rug. I'm constantly switching ours around and searching for the perfect vintage rug, but for now, a simple burlap style rug from Ikea did the trick. It also screams 'spring.' This is a little larger budget update (but you could also use ones currently in your house).

3. More Throw Pillows

As you can see, I'm shifting to a more vintage/70s color scheme in the house, so I bought super cheap Ikea pillow covers to change up the couch! Still searching for the perfect pattern compliments (like below!), but throw pillows are another small investment that can make a big difference in your living room!

4. Rattan It Up

If you're a fan of all things rattan, woven and wicker, this will be an EASY upgrade. I'm obsessed with our rattan chair + table I thrifted a while back, but I also added elements like the beautiful mirror mantle piece from World Market. If you're not ready to go full on rattan, find smaller ways to incorporate wicker like baskets, coffee table pieces or magazine holders.

5. Brighten The Space

Although Stephen sometimes isn't a fan of my love for a million windows everywhere, bring on the natural light. As often as I can, I keep all the blinds open so the windows are fully exposed. My houseplants really appreciate this ;), but natural light just breathes life into any space. I'm currently working on finding the perfect bamboo window treatments to take down all the blinds for good!

I hope this gives you some quick ideas on how to switch things up around the house for spring. OH, and before you do that, you might want to do some Spring Cleaning and last year, I made a handy checklist you can download here.
